Phase 1: The Vibe Check (Alignment)
Run-through these quick points together before locking in your dates:
The Daily Energy Max: What is our main daily activity? (e.g., A solid morning walk, a local attraction, exploring town?)
Your plan: [ Write daily activity here ]
Food Expectations: Do we have any dietary restrictions? For expense level of eatery, are we including high end?
Your plan: [ Write food preferences here ]
The "Switch-Off" Factor: Do we want a jam-packed schedule of sightseeing, or do we want to build in a few hours of quiet downtime for reading or relaxing at the house?
Your plan: [ Write downtime preferences here ]
The Holiday Bubble Rules
To keep this feeling like a genuine getaway rather than normal life at home, we agree to suspend everyday reality for 48 hours:
[ ] The Chore Ban: No gardening, heavy cleaning, or tackling the usual household to-do list while the guests are here. Normal chores wait until after the holiday.
[ ] Dedicated Time: This time is exclusively for the host-guest pairing. Clear your diary - no sports fixtures, liaisons with local friends, family meetings.
[ ] Keeping the World Out: Neighbors and casual local drop-ins are politely kept at bay. We are actively tuning out the local routine to focus on the trip.
Phase 2: The 48-Hour Alignment Blueprint
DAY 1
[ ] Morning: Travel, arrival, and welcome coffee at the host's home.
[ ] Lunch: Light, casual lunch at home to catch up.
[ ] Afternoon: Orientation stroll to explore the host's local neighborhood.
[ ] Evening: Dinner out at a local independent bistro or restaurant.
DAY 2
[ ] Morning: Main Activity (e.g., A solid 3-hour walk, cycle ride, or local exploration).
[ ] Lunch: Casual fuel stop at an independent local bakery or coffee shop on the go.
[ ] Afternoon: Relaxed downtime at home or independent exploring around town.
[ ] Evening: Takeaway or casual grazing and drinks at home for the final night.
Phase 3: The Simple Expense Ledger
One person pays the full bill at the venue, note it down, and settle up at the end.

The Settle-Up: Add everything up for the Grand Total, then divide by 2 (the target share). Subtract that target share from what you actually paid out of pocket. Positive number = your co-host owes you. Negative number = you owe your co-host. (Example: Total is £200, share is £100. If you paid £140, then $140 - 100 = 40$. They owe you £40).
